advantages of agile software development

Advantages of agile software development

For many corporate projects, agile software development has long been a part of daily work. It enables a high degree of efficiency and guarantees consistent quality. The project type and the team size are rather secondary. In this article, you will learn more about agile software development, the different phases of an agile development process, and which advantages and disadvantages can arise.

What does agile software development mean?

First of all, the Latin word agile in the English language means flexible, energetic, or alive. Agile software development is an elastic term that refers to approaches in the software development process that are intended to increase transparency and flexibility. This results in faster deployment and release of the developed systems and the sub-processes are realized as simply and agilely (=agile) as possible.

In concrete terms, this approach means for companies that agile software development combines flexibility, faster project execution, and lower costs. The satisfaction of the customer is in the foreground of agile software development.

Adaptive approaches and functioning teamwork allow rapid adjustments to be made in the software development cycle. This process can take place for example by regular arrangements between the self-organized developer team and responsible persons of the enterprise. Software documentation should be kept to a minimum and flexibility, efficiency and prompt reactions to changes in the software cycle should be the focus.

Phases of an agile development process

The phases of an agile development process can be divided into three categories:

  1. Initial planning
In the beginning, the project is divided into rough milestones. In this phase, no detailed framework conditions should yet be defined for the software product. The general project planning is in the foreground. The agile software development offers the possibility of building up and refining the expiration step by step until the project takes its final form.
  2. Iteration
The project should be accompanied by constant tracking and review. This so-called iteration is divided into 4 steps:
    – the planning of the iteration
    – the development of the planned features
    – the testing of the features
    – the acceptance of the developed performance.
An iteration should be scheduled every two to four weeks. It is used to optimize processes based on feedback from the customer.
  3. The delivery of the software
In the final phase, the finished version of the product is handed over to the customer. The functional software is released after each iteration. After each intermediate delivery, new features can be planned or improved until they meet customer expectations.

Advantages of agile software development

The biggest advantages of agile software development are clear. Companies benefit above all from:

  • more flexibility
  • high quality
  • faster delivery and
  • constant optimization.

But other benefits include:

  • Short feedback cycles strengthen the acceptance of changes
Due to regular iterations, the functional software is already released in a timely manner. Thanks to feedback and the close cooperation of the development team with the company, the functional scope is continuously adapted according to the change requests. This helps to avoid misunderstandings.
  • Increased creativity
Agile software development offers the opportunity to exploit the creativity and ideas of the team at the highest level. New features can be added to the software at any point in time.
  • Constant optimization
The software project is subject to a constant optimization and change process. You can optimize, develop and improve your project at any time. The development team can adjust all processes at any time through customer feedback.
  • Open and honest communication
Open and honest communication is highly relevant in agile software development. Each employee occupies a clearly defined role and is an important part of the team.
  • Rapid development of the software
One of the most important advantages of agile software development is the speed and the efficiency gained. Individual iterations and subtasks allow the team to concentrate in the best possible way and work in a results-oriented manner.

Are there disadvantages?

The advantages of agile software development outweigh the disadvantages, but this approach also has some disadvantages.

One of the most significant disadvantages in Germany is the lack of skilled workers in this sector. Many companies are therefore considering the possibilities and advantages of outsourcing for agile software projects.

Professional image editing for Amazon stores

How an image editing service can help your Amazon Shop?

With professional image editing for Amazon stores, you will enhance your online store with appealing and sales-promoting product images.

Are you about to sell your products through an Amazon store? Are the product texts and photos checked off your to-do list? Image editing can tie up too much time, and/or there may not be the expertise in the company to do this work satisfactorily. In this case, it makes sense to hire a professional image editing service to support you in this area for the time-consuming editing of images. After all, especially in Amazon stores, the product images are often a deciding factor for whether a customer ultimately buys a product or not.

Why image editing is so important for Amazon stores?

The biggest difference in buying online as opposed to buying in a store is the fact that the customer does not have the opportunity to hold and touch the product in their hands before buying it. Haptic perception is completely eliminated in online retailing.

Visual perception, therefore, has a very large influence on a purchase decision. That is why it is particularly important to cover this visual component and to convey a unique shopping experience to the potential customer through skillfully edited product photos. The combination of a lively product text and an optimal product image appeals directly to the online customer on an emotional level. This allows you to reach a large portion of different types of buyers at the same time.

In order to achieve a perfect end result, image editing is an important point. However, professional photo editing takes a lot of time, which ties up your capacities and may also exceed your skills. In this case, it makes sense to let a specialist perform this task.

What needs to be considered with image editing for Amazon stores?

Consistent imagery is a very important factor. So, the background should always be the same for the product photos in your Amazon Shop. If the pictures are taken with different light, in front of different backgrounds or by different photographers, then this can also be recognized by potential buyers and in many cases has a negative effect. Professional image processing can ensure a uniform appearance here and thus a serious appearance.

Another important point is the lighting. Here, too, there are often differences in the original photos, which can be adjusted by image editing and thus put your products “in the right light”.

With image editing for Amazon stores, it is also important to make sure that the product photos are the same size. Amazon has a list of standards that apply to all product images in Amazon Shops and must be adhered to.

In addition to these standards, there are often specifications of your own corporate design that must be adopted for the product images. These also have to be taken into account when editing images, which can also be very time-consuming.

Use a professional image editing service

Should you decide to use an image editing service, it is important that the aforementioned parameters are precisely defined in advance. This is the only way your partner can deliver the best results.

The time component can be a decisive factor in favor of handing over this process to an expert in the field of image editing. If you want to fill an online store, such as an Amazon store, with products, it usually involves a large number of images that need to be processed in a timely manner. A service provider who specializes in image editing will take care of this work for you and, thanks to their expertise, will manage to edit all the images in the desired quality in a short time. At the same time, the costs for such a service are predictable and transparent.

Tips for posting product photos in an Amazon Shop

There are a few tips that you should follow when posting product images and image editing for Amazon stores – regardless of whether you do the image editing yourself or whether you use the services of a specialist:

  • Use high-resolution product photos:
This will ensure that the viewer can zoom in on the images at will, and that details are also easy to see.
  • Include usage images:
Whenever possible, take pictures that show the product in use. Potential buyers will be able to better visualize how the product works in everyday life.
  • Post pictures with different angles:
Photograph the product once too often rather than too little. Every customer is different and interested in different details of the product.
  • Professional product photos:
Don’t skimp on quality here. The equipment and the professionalism of the photos are often decisive for the purchase.
  • Image editing:
Professionalism counts here, too. Image editing puts the finishing touches on good product photos or transforms less professionally created images into appealing product photos.

Remote work as an opportunity for climate protection

How the environment benefits from remote work

When the Corona pandemic broke out in Germany in spring 2020, remote work was more present than ever before. Many employees now work from home and have a home office.

In the meantime, we can see the positive changes remote work has had on companies. Parallel to this, the many positive influences of this development on the environment or climate protection can be seen. Among other things, remote work helps to save energy, Coand to minimize paper and waste consumption.

More sustainability in the home office

The extent to which remote work and working from home are more sustainable and have a positive impact on climate protection becomes clear in the following points:

Saving energy

It is not new knowledge that many electronic devices are needed in an office building, and that these usually run in standby mode or are even in operation 24 hours per day. Printers and coffee machines are rarely switched off, and in many offices the lights are on all day.

This is different in the home office. The mere awareness that one is in one’s own four walls triggers a rethink in many people. The coffee machine and the light, for example, are only switched on when they are needed.

Reducing Co2 emissions

Daily journeys to work are no longer necessary, and the use of public transport is also reduced. This fact is probably the most obvious when thinking about remote work and home office.

Greenpeace has evaluated the effects this has on CO2 emissions from transport in a study. It says that emissions can be reduced by 5.4 million tons per year if only 40 per cent of employees do remote work permanently two days a week.

Furthermore, with two fixed days per week in the home office, up to 21 billion fewer passenger kilometers are driven per year. As seen in 2020, this elimination of kilometers driven also affects petrol prices. The demand for crude oil has fallen worldwide and prices have been at a low level as a result.

Another significant CO2 saving from remote work and working from home was the reduction in air travel. Many more meetings are now held online, which also has a positive effect on the climate and the air.

Separate waste

It is often incomprehensible that something works in your own four walls but not in an office community. Waste separation is one such issue. This is probably due to the fact that in one’s own four walls, more attention is paid to the correct separation of waste, whereas in an open-plan office, for example, things sometimes end up in the wastepaper basket that do not belong there.

In terms of saving waste, working from home has another advantage. Common water dispensers or coffee machines that dispense drinks in plastic cups are rarely found at home. This means that a lot of plastic and disposable waste can be avoided.

Saving paper

Remote work has another positive effect on saving paper. Due to the decentralized work of the employees, digital signatures and digital filing have finally become part of everyday office life. Printing documents is often no longer necessary and only what is absolutely needed on paper should be printed. Paper documents that are passed from desk to desk internally and then filed and archived in folders are a thing of the past with remote working models.

Environmentally friendly for many years

Outsourcing4work – remote solutions has been working 100% remotely for many years and is therefore environmentally friendly. In this way, we make a sustainable contribution to climate protection. Digital teams: remote working tools for IT startups in 2021

Home offices and remote working have been part of everyday life since the Corona pandemic. For IT startups and international companies, however, decentralized teams have recently become the norm. Thanks to digital infrastructures, physical presence is no longer a prerequisite for successful collaboration. Today, digital teams can access and collaborate on projects from anywhere.

However, for remote working to succeed, clear structures and regular agreements are a must. A number of practical remote working tools make digital workflows organized, manageable and efficient. Whether sessions are for feedback, team brainstorming for a customer project or sharing documents – digital tools will simplify the interaction within the team. At outsourcing4work, we have been working exclusively remotely for 10 years. Here we talk about which tools you should implement in your home office.

5 practical remote working tools in 2021

For an overview in project management: Trello

When many employees are working on a project, good and long-term organization is an essential requirement. Who is working on a concept for the new landing page? Has the blog post already been released? And what is the deadline for the client’s homepage? With Trello, you can create cards for each task, distribute to-dos to your team members and give clear instructions on deadline, budget and requirements. Links, comments, photos and documents can also be attached to each card. Thanks to the program’s clear interface, you’ll always be able to keep track of the status of your projects.

Accurate time tracking with Time Doctor

An ideal time and productivity tracker for any team working remotely is Time Doctor. The web-based software offers numerous tools such has minute-by-minute time tracking and work session control. Other handy features such as invoicing and reminders support remote office operations and employee productivity.

For spontaneous communication and larger conferences: Go-to-Meeting

Complex issues and cross-departmental projects are usually better discussed in live meetings and video conferences. For smooth conferences with up to 250 participants, Go-to-Meeting is a tool that is as uncomplicated as it is reliable. Meetings can be started with just one click, and all conversations are securely encrypted via SAML SSO login. Thus, even large meetings are possible virtually.

Project management with Jira

Whether software development, task management or bug tracking: With Jira, remote teams can keep track of all work in the team and manage in an efficient manner. Integrated Scrum and Kanban boards are built into the Jira software and can be used directly. Task status, workflow, development steps and teamwork can be clearly tracked, analyzed and overviewed.

Mobile applications with Office 365

The cumbersome process of sending documents back and forth takes up time and is inconvenient. Office 365 combines intelligent cloud services with maximum security. Applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint can be organized in the cloud – so team members can access and edit documents together from different devices. Applications are always up-to-date in the subscription model, streamed on-demand and synchronized on devices that are connected to the respective Microsoft account.

Boost Your City (01.12.2020)

The 51-year-old heads an internationally successful company with more than 100 employees.

Although he often cannot go out of his house for months and spends most of the time in bed because of his serious illness (CFS – Chronic fatigue syndrome), he runs an internationally successful company with more than 100 employees – Khalid Nadeem Arif (51 years), founder and CEO of outsourcing4work.
The impressive story of this brave man from Groß-Gerau shows how much people can achieve despite difficult circumstances. And that even what could be considered a negative stroke of fate always bring opportunities with them.

A slogan with potential: outsourcing4work – remote solutions

The development of the remote model of outsourcing4work begins long before Corona. And it is a prime example for companies that are successfully involved in the field of digital infrastructure. More than ten years ago, the Pakistani entrepreneur Khalid Nadeem Arif took the decision to focus intensively on working in the home office. The reason for this was an illness that made it impossible for him to get out of bed at times. Instead of giving up on his company, he gradually developed it into a 100% remote company.
The IT and personnel services company now employs people from all over the world with more than 100 employees from 17 countries. They all work together remotely. Guided and supported by the man who at the beginning of his career could hardly have foreseen the growth his remote model would one day reach. As a provider of Indian IT experts, the innovative infrastructure is also a central core of the business model.
Sometimes Khalid Nadeem Arif is a little surprised by his own strength: “Today I often can’t go out of the house for months and lie in bed most of the time,” says Arif []. “As soon as my health allows, I start to work until I have to recover again in a very quiet and dark room. Despite my illnesses, today, by the grace of God, I live a happy and very grateful life. I have been running my company outsourcing4work GmbH for many years, mainly from my bed”.
The friendly man from Gross-Gerau has such a positive influence that his enthusiasm and eagerness can inspire people in a similar situation. And that is exactly his goal: to motivate and empower men and women with disabilities.

Diverse future plans

With his example, Khalid Nadeem Arif does not only want to encourage ill and disabled people, he also wants to support anyone interested in discovering the possibilities of remote work for themselves. In addition, the enthusiastic man wants to continue growing internationally with his 100% remote company and to create 1,000 new jobs in Pakistan in the next five years – primarily as remote jobs, of course. “One of the positive aspects of my illnesses is that they have made me an expert in remote work,” explains Khalid Nadeem Arif with a smile and is already thinking about his next big project: from his bed in Germany, he wants to make an economically underdeveloped city in Pakistan into an IT hub for remote work.

An introduction to the company

In a company-internal memo, Arif explains to every new employee how he runs the company despite massive health restrictions, how the cooperation with employees works, and what other work opportunities exist at outsourcing4work. Khalid Nadeem Arif and his team from outsourcing4work are also informing people outside the company about the various possibilities of remote work. The company organizes a variety of events [] and on December 10th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. a webinar entitled “Remote work – this is how people with disabilities can benefit” took place.

The life of Khalid Nadeem Arif

  • Born 1969 in Lahore, Pakistan
  • Started martial arts at the age of 8 and studied it for 20 years
  • Immigrated to Sweden when he was 15.
  • Came to Germany at the age of 16 and has lived in Germany ever since. Is a grateful owner of German citizenship.
  • Became an entrepreneur at the age of 24.
  • At 38, developed CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome). Also suffers from Chronic Pain Syndrome and Severe Sleep Apnea Syndrome. Is severely disabled (GdB 80) and has a disability level 2.

Present (2020)

“Today I can often not go out of my house for months and lie in bed most of the time. As soon as my health allows it, I start to work until I have to recover again in a very quiet and dark room. As soon as my health allows it again, I’ll start working…

Despite my illnesses, today, by the grace of God, I live a happy and very grateful life. I have been running my company outsourcing4work GmbH for many years, mainly from my bed. outsourcing4work is an IT and personnel services company with more than 100 employees who live in 17 countries and work remotely.

Because I could no longer drive to the office due to the severity of my illnesses and was forced to work from home, I converted my entire company into a 100% remote company almost 10 years ago.”

Future planning

  • With my example, I would like to encourage ill and disabled people not to give up and to support them in using the possibilities of remote work for themselves.
  • I want to continue to grow internationally with my 100% remote company.
  • I want to create 1,000 new jobs in Pakistan in the next 5 years. Primarily remote jobs are to be created. One of the positive effects of my illnesses is that it has made me an expert in remote work.
  • From my bed in Germany, I plan to make an economically underdeveloped city in Pakistan into an IT hub for remote work. Detailed information on why I started the 1000Jobs4Rabwah project in Pakistan and what my plan is can be found at
